DERD attends a Barbeque with Beneficiaries

Date 05-05-2012

On May 1, the Department organized a large barbeque for beneficiaries from the Capacity Building Program.  In the Capacity Building Program deaf beneficiaries were trained in various manual skills techniques to help them in the future generate income with their new abilities. The trainings included how to make accessories, bracelets, necklaces, and jewelry; and how to make interior decorations, including candles and decorations for holidays.

Many items were sold during two exhibitions in Holy Cross Halls that showcased the work of the talented beneficiaries. It was the beneficiaries themselves who wanted to host the barbeque for the Department in appreciation for the support and trainings that were offered to them.  The beneficiaries used some of the income that they made during the exhibitions to host the barbeque.
The DERD team and all the attendees had a lot of fun at the barbeque.  We played many great games, had great food, and especially enjoyed the great company.  We were all very thankful for the appreciation and the hard work that the beneficiaries displayed in making the day a great success.
